Police: Two Men Arrested for Stealing Cooking Oil

Two Newark men reportedly caught snatching used oil from diner.

Springfield police reported that two Newark men were arrested after attempting to steal waste cooking oil from the West 22 Diner. 

Springfield police reported that on Oct. 1, Daniel Avilez and Omar Juarez were arrested at the West 22 Diner on Route 22 West by Officer Michael Wlazlo after they were observed attempting to steal the contents of a waste cooking oil container.

Police said the men were using a van outfited with a fiberglass holding pump and a gasoline powered pump to siphon oil from tanks.

Both were charged with theft and have a municipal court appearance date.
