Power Outages in Springfield After Report of Transformer Fire

Over ten percent of township reported without power.

UPDATED: Following a report of a transformer fire near Meisel Park, Jersey Central Power & Light is showing over 1,000 Springfield customers without electricity. 

At 3:45 p.m., JCP&L's power outages map showed reported 1,044 households without power in Springfield. 

The outages are likely related to a transformer fire that emergency communications report occurred near Meisel Park shortly after 2 p.m. A representative of the Springfield Fire Department said they could not release information at this time.

Shortly after 4 p.m., a JCP&L rep said that power had been restored to all but 680 homes and that full restoration was estimated for 4:15 p.m.
