Springfield Emergency Responders Save Man's Life
A man suffering from chest pains needed three defibrillator shocks to be brought back to life. The First Aid Squad and Atlantic medics on the scene assisted with the care.
A Springfield man experiencing heart trouble was resuscitated early Monday, April 2 by responding to a 911 call.
The unidentified Springfield resident had been experiencing chest pains throughout the night and couldn't sleep, so he dialed 911 shortly after 5 a.m. The Springfield Fire Department and a member of the Springfield police department arrived at the residence, and found the patient unresponsive and without a pulse.
The SPF crew placed A.E.D. Defibrillation pads on his chest and shocked the man back to life. In addition to the Fire Department, Atlantic Medics and the responded to the scene.

The First Aid Squad brought the man to Overlook hospital in Summit. On the way to the hospital, the the patient went into cardiac arrest and the first aid squad resumed C.P.R., including administering a third shock from the A.E.D.
The man is alive and discharged from the hospital.
