Springfield Firefighters, Police Officers, Honored for Service

Following emergency birth and resuscitation, public safety workers are given awards.

Springfield officials gave Township police officers and firefighters awards for their service during recent emergencies and arrests in Springfield.

Police officers Melissa Esteves, Kieth Doherty, Damon Quirk, Erik Knudsen, Luis Brito, Frank Cunha, Joseph Cieri, Danielle Kahora, Marc McBratney, Jon Rachel and Michael Lagola received awards. Firefighters Carlo Palumbo, Dave Maas and Brian Schmitt were also honored.

Officers McBratney, Lagola and Esteves were on hand to accept the awards in person from Officer in Charge of the Springfield Police Department Captain John Cook and Public Safety Director Richard Rosell.

Palumbo, Maas and Schmitt accepted their awards in person.

The firefighters and officers McBratney and Lagola were commended for their actions during the . In addition, Rosell also commended McBratney and Lagola for recussitating a victim during an emergency call. Esteves was recognized for her work in a traffic stop and drug arrest.
