Springfield Police: All Township Roads Passable and all Traffic Lights Operational

Springfield PD will increase patrols in areas without power.

In a mid afternoon update, said that all of the Township's traffic lights are working and that police no longer need to direct traffic on any Springfield roads.

"There are no road closures which require police personnel to divert traffic due to streets that are completely blocked by down trees or live power lines," Detective Sgt.  Judd Levenson of the Springfield Police Department said in an email.

A major power line carrying 100 volts came down on Saturday at Mountain Avenue and Shunpike, causing street closures in that area.

Levenson said that there would be a larger than normal amount of officers patrolling the streets this evening, due to Halloween. In addition, he said the additional frequency of patrolling would continue in all residential streets with power outages until power is restored.
