Township Mourns Loss of Former Volunteer Firefighter Gerry Harvey

Services for former volunteer will be next Monday at St. James.

Springfield resident Gerry Harvey, who served the Springfield Fire Department from November 1974 to October 1989, died on Oct. 19, 2011.

In an announcement over the man's passing, Springfield Fire Department Chief James Sanford noted that Harvey was a Life Member of the NJ Firemen’s Association and a Member of the Springfield Exempt Firemen’s Association. He also served as US Marine in the Korean War.

At the time of his passing, he resided in Springfield with his wife, Pat. There will be viewing at Bradley, Smith and Smith on Sunday, Oct. 23 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. with a Firefighter’s Service at 4 p.m.

The funeral mass will held at on Monday, Oct. 24 at 9 a.m. Harvey's name has been added to the memorial monument and the mourning drapes will hang for 30 days.
