Bramnick, Kean, Munoz: Union County Gets $2M for Road Projects

Tired of crumbling roads that shake your alignment? Union County towns get the lion's share of $2.6 million in transportation grants to repair local byways.

Motorists and pedestrians in Union County are going to get a break from crumbling roads, thanks to a $2.6 million Department of Transportation grant that Senate Minority Leader Tom Kean, Jr., Assembly Minority Leader Jon Bramnick, and Assemblywoman Nancy Muñoz announced this week.

"Our municipalities work hard to stretch taxpayer dollars, and it is always helpful when the State works with them in order to ensure that our roads are safe and well maintained," said Kean. The District 21 legislators, all Republicans, released a statement to announce the grant.

The project includes over $200,000 for road preservation work on Wabeno Ave. in Springfield.

"This funding will help us repair important local roads and keep pedestrians safe in our communities," added Bramnick.

"These grants are a major funding source for needed projects throughout the state and demonstrate the successful partnership that exists between local and state government," said Muñoz.
