Committeeman Suggests Broadcasting High School Sports

Deputy Mayor Richard Huber said putting the games on television would allow those who can't get out to watch from home.

During Tuesday evening's Springfield Township Committee meeting, Deputy Mayor Richard Huber asked Township Administrator Anthony Cancro to look into the possibility of broadcasting Jonathan Dayton High School sporting events.

"We have the field, we have a television station, I want to start broadcasting the games," Huber said. "I know the superintendent's not for it. He said they don't have equipment but maybe Comcast or Fios can help us out. We've got basketball games coming up soon. We've got a football field and people could see it who can't get out."

Cancro said he would look into it and have a report in time for the next committee meeting, which will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12 at the Municipal Building. The workshop meeting, typically held on Mondays, will precede the regular meeting and begin at 6:30 p.m., as Monday, Nov. 11 is Veterans Day.
