County Grants $75,000 to Springfield for Recreation Facilities

Grant is part of Union County Kids Recreation Trust Grant.

Last week, Springfield Mayor Hugh Keffer accepted a check for $75,000 from Freeholder Daniel Sullivan.

The grant comes in the form of a Union County Kids Recreation Trust Grant. In a press release, Springfield Democrats said the funds would be put towards the turf field and other recreation activities.

"We are very happy and thankful to the County for this generous grant," Keffer said in the release. "This money represents a significant step towards making a field at Dayton High School a reality."

A turf field for Jonathan Dayton High School has long been a goal of . Last year, the Township Committee and the Board of Education performed a "" intended to raise funds for a new turf field at the high school.
