Speed Humps Will be Installed on Laurel Drive

Majority of 45 residents affected voted in favor of speed-reducing measure.

The township will move forward with installing speed humps on Laurel Drive about a month after the installation was initially due to begin.

Township Administrator Anthony Cancro said he received nine phone calls from Laurel Drive residents asking that the township reverse its decision the day before construction was scheduled. The major objection, he said, was that some residents thought the humps would devalue their properties.

“We did discuss this with some local real estate brokers, who didn’t feel that was a problem,” Mayor David Amlen said.

Regardless, Cancro sent out a survey on Aug. 1, asking residents of the 45 properties on Laurel Drive whether they were in favor or opposed the decision.

The administrator received 22 votes in favor and 10 in opposition. As a result, Cancro said he will move forward with the installation.
