Springfield Seeks Volunteers for Earth Day Project

Township looking to assemble team to clean up areas around the dikes.

Trying to make Earth Day plans? The township of Springfield can help.

Springfield Township Administrator Anthony Cancro is seeking volunteers for an Earth Day clean-up project.

The effort will focus on areas around Springfield’s dike that were damaged and strewn with debris during tropical storm Irene.

Cancro said he was particularly interested in getting high school students involved with the project and said that he would work with Dayton officials to have the work be considered part of their service requirement.

For adults, the day offers a chance to improve the town and help the environment. Earth Day is April 22. Anthony Cancro can be reached at Anthony.Cancro@springfield-nj.us.
