Township to Hold Briefing for Hurricane Victims at Sarah Bailey Today

Event includes free meal for attendees.

Springfield residents affected by Hurricane Irene are invited to a briefing and question and answer session at the Sarah Bailey Center today.

Township Committee member Jerry Fernandez organized the event. He said residents would be invited to ask questions about recovery and rehabilitation efforts and information about FEMA and any other concerns.

He said that while final attendance is not set, he expected Township Administrator Anthony Cancro and Chief of Police John Cook to be on hand to answer questions.

Fernandez is providing attendees with food from his restaurant, the Spanish Pavilion, for free, and asks that attendees RVSP to him at jerry.fernandez@springfield-nj.us or 908-868-0898 so he can ensure there is enough food.

Fernandez said the briefing was not a Township Committee meeting; the next Township Committee meeting is Thursday, Sept. 8.
