Hearty appetites can be sated by foods like baked Virginia ham, bacon, Hatfield Breakfast Sausage, omeletes, fritattas, eggs Benedict, pancakes, French toast, waffles, chicken Francaise, sliced sirloin of beef, roast turkey with giblet gravy,  buttered noodles,  sliced prime rib,  fresh flounder stuffed with crabmeat, garlic shrimp, roast leg of lamb and baked ziti.

For the sweet tooth types, Viennese table covered with desserts like hot apple crisp ala mode, cakes, pies, cookies, candies, brownies, tortes, chocolate mousse, puddings and brownies, pastries and petit fours, lemon loafs and a giant fruit display with watermelon, honeydew, bananas, strawberries, kiwi and more.

It’s more than a mouthful, but it’s something of a return to form for the Springfield restaurant and bar.

“We’ve been offering brunch on and off for over 40 years,” Laurielle Nagel of Scotty’s said in an email. “However, this past year we’ve only offered a brunch menu instead of a buffet.”

Nagel said that the recession has kept people at home for late weekend mornings and early afternoons, so they’ve scaled back to a menu boasting an array of brunch favorites. Scotty’s is embracing Mother’s day as a chance to dust off the big metal buffet bins.

“Our Mother’s Day Buffet is special because while all the other restaurants and hotels are charging $35.00 to $50.00 for their brunch just because it’s Mother’s Day, we’re keeping our rock-bottom price of $19.95, so that they come here, enjoy it and come back again after Mother’s Day,” Nagel said.
