Carnival Tarnishes Cruise Industry

Of course booking a vacation can lead to a few mishaps, however after hearing about the latest disaster aboard the Carnival Triumph, most people would be turned off from ever taking a cruise vacation. Yes, cruise ships carry certain liabilities yet, they are quite a genius endeavor. Everything is taken care of for you. You don’t have to worry about booking hotels or looking for restaurants to get a good meal. There are usually pools, gyms, and spas on board. Some cruises offer parties and clubs for a little night life escape.

In our heavily litigious society, people are always looking to be compensated for their misfortune and Carnival’s disaster would not be any different. Passengers might not receive any compensation according to this article in the Insurance Journal. The compensation that Carnival is offering to the passengers is hardly comparable to the discomfort they endured. No one wants a voucher to go back on the same cruise line! Customers don’t care if it’s a different boat.

Once again, Carnival has ruined their reputation to provide good customer service. Engine fires can be prevented. It is terrible that the passengers of this ship had to remain onboard for days and suffer intolerable conditions. It will be interesting to see if Carnival can bounce back from this nightmare.
