Skype is a great application to make free local calls and cheap international calls from your computer. All you need is a webcam and/or a headset. Nowadays you can pick up a decent webcam from your local dollar store. If you want high end models for business calls, you are better off ordering something online or going to your nearest Electronics store. Skype’s service has smoothed out over the years. In their early days, they had a lot of dropped calls.
If you ever want to try something different, check out Rebtel. The name doesn’t roll of the tongue as easy as Skype but they seem to be a viable contender offering the same services as Skype. Rebtel can also be used on mobile devices including Windows phones and the Ipad just like Skype. This app has gotten great reviews. You can also send text messages as well.
