Due to a retirement and a birth, Springfield's schools have two new principals and a new middle school supervisor.
Following the retirement of longtime Springfield school administrator Michael Antolino at the end of the 2009-2010 School year, Hillary Corburn became Principal of Sandmeier school.
Corburn is no stranger to the Springfield school system, having served as the Assistant Superintendent to the school system prior to taking the reins at the elementary school.

Michael Plias, the former Middle School supervisor at Gaudineer middle school, will act as the interim Principal at Walton School while the Dr. Susie Hung is out on Maternity leave. Dr. Hung sent a notice to parents over the summer advising them that she was due to give birth in early October, and would be on leave for the school year.
April Friedman, a fourth grade teacher at Caldwell School, has been appointed to cover Mr. Plias as the middle school supervisor at the Gaudineer for the 2010-2011 school year.

"These moves were made by the superintendent because he realized the talent and abilities of the staff within the district and was able to make these move with little disruption to the schools and district," Springfield Schools Director of Human Resources and Professional Development Ellyn Afterton said. "The new administrators are off to a great start."
