Job Readiness Computer Training Classes

 

            The Union County College Industry Business Institute is offering a four session training opportunity at the Springfield Free Public Library. The first takes place on September 12.  This class is for non-computer users seeking to gain a basic understanding of the PC component and operations in Microsoft Windows environment including proper start-up and shut down of the operating system, running application programs, and managing and organizing file folders and printing.

            The second session takes place on September 19th. And is a class in the basic elements of MS Word.  Emphasis will be on the development of a resume and cover letter.

            The third session , on Monday, September 26th, is a class on the proper usage of web based email, email etiquette, responding to job listings, and on-line applications.  Each participant needing an email address will be assisted in the creation of a personal email account.

            The fourth session will meet on October 3 and will offer training in the basic usage of the Internet, understanding  web site addresses, introduction to the major web search engines, and  elements of a web search with specific emphasis on web based job searches.

            Each session begins at 10:30 A.M. and ends at 2:30 P.M.  Participants must register for all four classes. The classes are free and limited to ten participants. Pre-Registration is required. The Springfield Free Public Library is located at 66 Mountain Avenue, Springfield. For additional information or to register for the classes,  call 973-376-4930.
