JDHS Students Enjoy Their Winter Break

Dayton Students give their opinion about Winter Break

During winter break, students get a chance to relax, meet up with friends, celebrate the holidays and catch up with schoolwork.

Sophomore Francisco Mena loves winter break.

"The week before winter break this year was crazy, a lot of tests and quizzes, which made the break so much better," Mena said."I use this time to catch up with friends and family."

Some of his favorite things to do while away from school are seeing movies and going to the mall with friends, shopping for holiday gifts,  going to parties. Most of all, he caught up on sleep.

"It's nice to get some time off from school to clear my mind and not have to wake up at 6:45 a.m.," he said.

Alexa McCaffrey, also a sophomore, uses break as a time to clear her mind.

"I mainly just sleep-in, relax, and do a lot of shopping because there are so many great sales,"she said.

She also said that it's nice not to have to worry about studying for tests, project due dates, and essays to write. Students need a break to unwind from their workload and just relax.

Freshman Lindsey Gaon has big plans for the New Year. She has so far spent the break catching up with some of her summer camp friends.  The New Year brings many opportunities for Lindsey. She is looking forward to playing softball for Dayton and the completion of a student leadership project to promote social capital. Gaon's New Years Resolution is to stay focused on her schoolwork and learn how to better manage everything that's going on in her life.

Overall, winter break is a time that is wonderful for all. Students can catch up with old friends, set goals for the New Year, relax, and even sleep late. It's a much-needed time for rest and relaxation.
