Maya Nisani is The Springfield Municipal Alliance's Volunteer of the Year

Dayton student honored for her volunteerism and commitment to social alternatives to drugs and alcohol.

Not only is she an active member in multiple school clubs and groups, but she serves in leadership roles in two of them while volunteering at an out-of-state substance abuse treatment center.  

Now the Springfield Municipal Alliance is recognizing her hard work by naming Nisani Volunteer of the Year.

In addition to acting as Vice President of Dayton's Key Club, Nisani is the co-President of the Alternatives Club, a drug free and alcohol free club committed to finding social alternative to drugs or alcohol.  In her three years as a member of he club, she has shown she is dedicated to a drug free and alcohol free lifestyle. She has participated in and organized numerous teen activity nights, wellness fairs, and peer outreach programs during and after school.  

Nisani played a crucial role in last year's  at the High School. Whe read a heartfelt letter to her mom thanking her for teaching her and giving her the strength to resist peer pressure. As busy as Nisani is in the Alternatives Club, she is also an active member of the Springfield Municipal Alliance, Peer Leadership, Volunteer Club and Spanish Club.

In addition to the active role she plays in the Dayton community, she also volunteers at Keenan House, a half way house for people in recovery in Allentown, PA. Nisani will be honored at the Dec 6 LACADA Volunteer Recognition Dinner.
