The Dayton student wins award from Local Advisory Committee on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse

On Dec. 6, the Local Advisory Committee on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse (LACADA) presented Springfield teen Maya Nisani with her award for being named the township's 2011 Municipal Volunteer of the Year. 

The Springfield Municipal Alliance is recognizing her hard work  

In addition to acting as Vice President of Key Club, Nisani is the co-President of the Alternatives Club, a drug free and alcohol free club committed to finding social alternative to drugs or alcohol.  In her three years as a member of he club, she has shown she is dedicated to a drug free and alcohol free lifestyle. She has participated in and organized numerous teen activity nights, wellness fairs, and peer outreach programs during and after school.

Nisani played a crucial role in last year's  at the High School. Whe read a heartfelt letter to her mom thanking her for teaching her and giving her the strength to resist peer pressure. As busy as Nisani is in the Alternatives Club, she is also an active member of the Springfield Municipal Alliance, Peer Leadership, Volunteer Club and Spanish Club.

Union County Freeholder Linda Carter presented Nisani with the award at the group’s annual volunteer recognition dinner in Clark.
