Springfield Elementary Students Collect Toys for Charity

At first joint dance, Sandmeier and Caldwell Students donated gifts for the less fortunate.

On Friday, Dec. 2, hosted “The Snow Ball” dance. The event was the first Family Fun Night it held together with sister school,  and was sponsored by both the Caldwell and Sandmeier PTAs.

In the spirit of the holiday season, the two PTAs decided to help out the community. Instead of having the door proceeds go the PTA, each child brought a new and unwrapped toy to donate to .

Almost 150 Sandmeier and Caldwell students attended the event. The children danced the night away to a DJ and participated in games such as freeze tag, limbo and potato sack races.

The response to the request for toy donations was overwhelming. Over 160 toys were collected, with the haul including 42 games, 43 crafts, 12 barbies, 40 cars/boys toys, roller skates as well as $30 in cash.

Springfield HOPE trustee Gary Hecht had to make two trips to pick everything up from Caldwell School and was stunned at the sheer number of toys. He extended his gratitude to our school community.
