Springfield Schools Closed Friday Due to Storm

Non-essential government offices will be closed Friday as well.

Springfield public schools will be closed Friday as a winter storm is expected to blanket the Township with 4 to 7 inches of snow between Thursday evening and Friday afternoon.

Non-essential government offices will be closed Friday as well as Gov. Chris Christie has declared a state of emergency.

"The impending weather conditions over the next several days will produce a variety of dangerous travel conditions throughout the state," said Christie as he issued his declaration late Thursday afternoon. "I encourage all New Jerseyans to stay off the roads if possible so that our first responders and public safety officials can safely respond to any emergency situations."

The Township of Springfield announced that in light of the anticipated heavy snow Thursday, recycling scheduled for Saturday may be delayed and/or not completed throughout the town. If that occurs recycling will be completed on Wednesday.
