Fabiano Leads Another Dayton Team To States

Mark Masucci leads Dayton bowling to state tourney bid.

Jonathan Dayton High School coach Felix Fabiano has done it again.

After leading the Dayton boys soccer team to its first state championship this fall, Fabiano has solidified a foundation and resurrection of the Dayton bowling team, literally overnight.

On Saturday, Dayton (7-7), which is in its first season since deregionalization occurred in 1997, placed second in the Group 1 Sectional at Jersey Lanes in Linden and advanced to the state finals on Saturday, Feb. 20 at Brunswick Zone - Carolier Lanes in North Brunswick, starting at 9:30 a.m.

Only two teams per group advanced, with heavily-favored Roselle Catholic, No. 2 in The Star-Ledger Top 20, placing first.

"It's been a terrific first year for a sport destined to stay and make its mark at Dayton," Fabiano said.
