Junior Dawg D Team Moves to 6-0

Can Win Conference Title and Number 1 Seed with Win on Nov. 3rd

With no score board, with a score board, the D Team Springfield Jr Dawgs continue to roll as they improved their record to 6-0 against the Parsippany Red Hawks 26-13 this past weekend.

In what could be their last home game of the season (There is a slim possibility that the D Team could get a chance to actually host the first Play Off Game on Dayton's New Turf Field - however, the NJSYFL, one of the better youth football leagues in the state, actually requires a commitment from the town hosting the game (Get this....) to use the scoreboard and PA system. (How ironic) And as we all know, after the week we had, there isn't a chance of that happening in Springfield)  the Jr. Dawgs jumped out to 13 - 0, on a 55 yard TD run from Trent Hutchins (145 yards rushing) an extra point score from Elijah White, and a slick 51 yard reverse run for a TD by Dave Ares (88 yards rushing).

In the second quarter,  the Dawgs would continue to open holes in the Hawk defense with excellent blocking from Cole McTernan, Mike Kanarek, Daniel Munoz and exceptional play from "three Anthonys" of Apicella, Wang, and Corigliano.

Patrick Phillips (112 yards rushing), who already had a 47 yard TD called back in the first quarter, made sure this time, as he shot straight off tackle for a 65 yard TD run. Although the Dawgs drove the ball down field several times in the second half with exciting runs from Hutchins, Kanarek, White, and Stampoulis, Ares would finishing the scoring for the morning with his second TD of the day, rambling 30 yards for the score.

The D Team Dawgs (6-0) will have a bye this week, but will face an undefeated Morristown (5-0-1) on November 3rd at Delbarton High School. This will be the last game of the regular season and determine the Conference Champion.  Although it would not be the case for Morristown, (other than being Conference Champs).

If Springfield wins, not only will they win the Conference title, but it would also (due to their tough out of conference games) make them the #1 Seed in the Play - Offs.

Go Dawgs !
