Last Chance to See the Nets Play in NJ

WHAT The 22-42 New Jersey Nets conclude 35 years of NBA hoops in the Garden State with their final home game, tonight, against the Philadelphia '76ers, the team they infamously traded Julius "Dr. J" Erving to pay off debts when they entered the NBA from the ABA in 1976-77. Star point guard Deron Williams and center Brook Lopez are hurt, they never got Dwight Howard in a trade and the seas was a bust, but it's the end of an era in New Jersey professional sports.

WHERE The Prudential Center, Newark 

WHEN 7:30 p.m.

WHY They're moving to the still-under-construction Barclays Center in Brooklyn, which they will call home. Despite their recent run of losing seasons, Jason Kidd, Kenyon Martin and Richard Jefferson led them to back-to-back appearances in the NBA Finals during their best seasons in New Jersey.

DID YOU KNOW? The Nets played their first season, as the New Jersey Americans, during the 1967-68 season, at the Teaneck Armory. The moved the next year to the Commack Arena on Long Island, where Julius "Dr. J" Erving, Billy "The Whopper" Paltz and "Super" John Williamson led them to ABA dominance . Eventually, the Nets moved back and played at the Rutgers Athletic Center in Piscataway, at the Brendan Byrne/Continental/Izod Arena before moving to the Prudential Center in Newark.
