Springfielder Expects 'Huge Turnout' for Turf Field Ribbon Cutting

Ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 12 to coincide with the Bulldogs home opener.

The countdown to the ribbon cutting ceremony at Jonathan Dayton High School's turf field has begun.

The event, set for Thursday, Sept. 12, will coincide with the Bulldogs home opener in which the team will take on Bernardsville. Neither the game time nor the ceremony's start time has not yet been announced.

Mike Scalera, chairman of the Springfield Business Improvement District, said he is expecting "a huge turnout" for the ceremony.

"It's going to be a really big event, with all the local dignitaries coming out for it," he said. "Not only is this the first football field ever for Springfield, but it's turf and it's the opening game."
