Turf Field on Track for Mid-August Completion

The future home of the Bulldogs is getting into shape.

Despite it being one of the rainiest Junes on record, the turf field at Jonathan Dayton High School is on track to be completed in time for the start of football season.

Eric Rochelle of Rochelle Contracting said Monday that the future home of the Bulldogs should be ready by mid-August.

If it weren't for the rain, the foul lines on the softball field would have been drawn Monday, Rochelle said. The recent spate of inclement weather also delayed the installation of curbing.

Rochelle said rumors circulating about possible vandalism occurring at the field were untrue.

"People see strips and cuts but that's all part of the process," he said. "It's getting there."

Amid rain showers, crews were finishing up work on the bleachers and the concession stand Monday.

Up next, Rochelle said the tennis courts will be paved and the installation of fencing surrounding the field will be completed.
