Come out and Help for Community Day

The environmental commission and DPW need volunteers to take part in a clean-up effort to restore areas destroyed by Hurricane Irene.

The following message comes via the Springfield Environmental Commission.

The Springfield Environmental Commission and Department of Public Works are calling for all township residents to show how much they care for their hometown. Take part in Clean Community Day to help clean your neighborhoods and open spaces in the areas that were hit hardest by the flooding that followed Hurricane Irene.

Volunteers are asked to participate from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 22, for the cleanup of two locations:The park at Marion and Morris Avenues or the park on Laurel Avenue. Please wear old clothes so you can roll up your sleeves and get dirty for this important volunteer effort. Gloves, tools and T-shirts will be available through the generosity of a grant received by the DPW.

Please come and show your neighbors that you care. It doesn’t cost anything except your time.  Families are very welcome.
