Fundraiser Supports Scholarships in Memory of Brothers, Firefighter
Scholarships benefit Dayton seniors.
An evening of entertainment is being hosted by the relatives and friends of Gene and Louie Del Mauro and Joe Pepe to honor the lives of the Springfield men and fund scholarships in their name.
From 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, the community is invited to the V.F.W. Hall, located at South 21st St. in Kenilworth, for a buffet dinner, open bar and entertainment provided by Springfield's own Doug Karpf, a comedian, and DJ Carmen Giordano.
Tickets are priced at $45 per person and proceeds will go toward The Joe Pepe Sportsmanship Fund which benefits two seniors from Jonathan Dayton High School. Pepe, a Springfield firefighter and emergency medical technician, died of a heart attack in 2004.
Ticket sales also benefit the Gene & Louie Del Mauro Kind Heart Scholarship, which is awarded to two seniors from Dayton and Watchung Regional High School. The Del Mauro brothers, who were born and raised in Springfield, both passed away after battling leukemia, within two years of each other.
