Soccer Club of Springfield Brings Holiday Cheer to Children's Specialized Hospital

Young Springfield athletes took to the hospital to distribute gifts from second annual toy drive

Members of the Soccer Club of Springfield visited Children's Specialized Hospital in Mountainside earlier this month to deliver presents.

What started last year as a one team initiative has expanded club-wide.  Seventeen players ranging from age 7 to 12 from the junior, recreation and travel programs of the Soccer Club of Springfield delivered hundreds of toys, games, toiletries and electronic devices to the patients of the hospital.

After delivering the presents, the Soccer Club players got a tour of the hospital, including stops at the therapy pool, playground and gym.

The staff and patients were very appreciative of our donation and will be giving the items to the children for the holidays, birthdays and as rewards for various achievements throughout the year.

A special thank you to Springfield parent Joe McDonough for helping to coordinate this visit and to all of the soccer families who donated their time and money to the hospital during this holiday season.
