Springfield Basketball Association Hosts Play 4 Pink Zone This Weekend

Games will be held at Dayton and Gaudineer.

Springfield Basketball Association will host the Play 4 Kay Pink Zone, a fundraiser for breast cancer awareness.  In conjunction with coaches from Moravian College, Dayton varsity basketball teams and the Springfield Rec Department, this inaugural event to support breast cancer will take place on Saturday, Jan. 28 and Sunday, Jan. 29.

The Play 4 Kay Pink Zone will run over the course of two days, and will be another opportunity for Springfield basketball players to hone and showcase their skills.  The charge is $20 per player and grants entry to both days of clinics.  One hundred percent of the proceeds will benefit the Kay Yow Cancer Fund & Play 4 Kay Pink Zone to support women's cancer research.  All checks should be made out to Springfield Basketball Association.

Formerly the  WBCA Pink Zone, the Play 4Kay is a coalition of coaches aiming to raise breast cancer awareness on the court and beyond.  The Kay Yow Cancer Fund was officially founded on December 3, 2007, from the vision of the organization’s namesake Kay Yow, former North Carolina State University head women’s basketball coach.

The fundraiser will not interfere with any previously schedule Springfield Recreation clinics or games.  These events will happen as planned.

The clinics will be offered to players in grades 2-8 (boys and girls).  Registration for the event grants players access to both clinics.
