Springfield Honor First Aid Squad Members

Service of local volunteer emergency medical staff recognized in declaration of EMS week in Springfield.

Springfield First Aid Squad president Liz Fritzen said that the volunteer EMS crew has had been busy but that the members are up to the challenge.

In a time when first aid crews are struggling to maintain membership elsewhere, Fritzen said the Springfield squad is thriving. Its 50-plus members responded to over 1,800 calls in 2011 and they continue to constantly respond to area emergencies. In making the declaration, Springfield Mayor Ziad Shehady encouraged Springfield residents to visit SpringfieldFAS and make a donation.
