Springfield Rotary Blood Drive a Success

Twenty three units of blood collected for blood bank.

On Tuesday, Feb. 7, the Springfield Rotarians held their first blood drive in decades.

Held in conjunction with New Jersey Blood Service, the drive was a success. While 10 potential donoros were screened out by the blood bank's strict screening process, sixteen people were able to donate blood. A number of donors opting for the ALYX technique, which gets twice the usable amount of blood than the traditional whole blood donations. Coordinator Paula Kaiser was happy with the end result, with the event collecting 23 units of blood for the blood bank.

The Rotarians extended their thanks to to Reverend Vicky Ney for donating the 's community room for the blood drive.
