Springfield Honors MLK Jr. Day This Week

The Jonathan Dayton High School Junior Class Fashion Show will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Springfielders are invited to attend a Martin Luther King, Jr. Day vigil for peace and understanding at noon Monday in the chamber on the second floor of Town Hall. Springfield public schools will be closed Monday in observation of the holiday. 

Check back with Patch for information on the upcoming Project Healthy Bones class offered to men and women age 50 and older.

The Jonathan Dayton High School Junior Class Fashion Show will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday. 

Ninth grade orientation will take place from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at JDHS.

Coffee and Clergy: An interesting and lively session with Rabbi Mark Mallach of Temple Beth Ahm Yisrael and Pastor David Knecht of Holy Cross Lutheran Church. All are welcome to join in the discussion which begins at 8 p.m. Thursday at Barnes & Noble.

Martin Luther King came to Springfield, to the Temple across from Gaudineer Jr. when I was around 11 years old. Not sure if the community is aware of this historic visit. There was a Rabbi at the Temple who was marching with MLK
