What comes first? Paint or New Floors?

Dear Carpet Girl,

What comes first new paint or new floors?

Paint first, in most circumstances.  While each project is a case by case scenario, we like to be the first item you pick out, and the last to be installed. The new paint, may get surfaced scratched by the installation, but that is much easier to fix - than cleaning paint out of your brand new carpet...

Hardwood & Laminates or LVTs may require early on installation, however it is very important to make sure the floors are properly protected from sheet rock dust & construction debris.  This dust can be nearly impossible to get out of tiny cracks & crevices ... And could potentially void the cleaning & stain warranties.

There is a product called Rhino Board, that can be put down to really protect the hard surface floors.

Here's the bottom line, all projects are not created equally, therefore there is no perfect answer... As a flooring project management company, we advise each homeowner what is best at the time of their home improvement.
