Looking for fun, educational activities for your youngsters? Take them this Thursday to the Barnes & Noble Bookstore on Route 22 in Springfield for a mid-morning filled with great activities for kids. Staff members will read books, sing songs and participate in activities. The event takes place in the Children's Department. There will also be an age-appropriate introduction to B&N's Nook tablet reader. The fun starts at 11 am. For more information, call 973-376-8544. Come for the space, the sweets and the Starbucks, but not the food
Would you pay $6 for a hot pocket? As I finished my Mediterranean chicken sandwich at the Barnes and Noble Cafe last week, I wondered. The sandwich wasn't exactly a hot pocket, but close. And as I ate it, I tried to recall if the woman behind the counter asked me if I wanted this for here or to go. The only reason to buy this food, in my opinion, was for the convenience of eating lunch while browsing the latest issue of Cook's Illustrated. The draw here at the Barnes and Noble Cafe is clearly the in-a-bookstore location, the Starbucks drinks and possibly the desserts—but not the food. A comedic book about a women's point of view about relationships and life. Deb Amlen has been a crossword puzzle creator for several years, as well as local news contributor. Opportunity came along when Sterling Publishing saw her hilarious blog and offered a book contract. From there, it was history. Awesome Review! Yeah it seems that Barnes and Noble has more of a captive audience capitalizing on the convenience of merely eating while you're shopping for books and not on actual service and product quality. Thanks for the info!   more ›
