After five years, the laptop program in Springfield Schools has had a strongly positive effect on both students and teachers.
The school year is in full swing. With winter break rapidly approaching and midterms in January, student have more projects, assignments and essays than ever. When it comes to technology integration, the always-trending topic in Springfield is the laptop program. Put into effect in 2006, this program called for the handout of a new iBook G4 to students in grades 6 through 12 in the Springfield Public Schools. After about two years, with the release of the Macbook from Apple the difficult question of whether or not to upgrade the laptops arose.
