The Springfield Lightning U14 soccer team (9-0-1) went into their Intercounty Youth Soccer League (ICYSL) finals match looking forward to a rematch with Clark's U14 team. It felt like deja vu; this was the same Clark team they faced just seven months earlier in the ICYSL Fall Finals. Springfield had faced Clark just 2 times before. The two teams tied in their regular season meeting last Fall and tied in regulation time during their November, Fall ICYSL Championship game, leading to two overtime periods and ultimately resulting in a best of five shoot out where Springfield took the title with a 2-0 final score. After competing with eleven other teams in the Spring regular season, Lightning now had the opportunity to defend their ICYSL …

1700+ Residents Came to Support The Springfield Soccer Club
The Annual Springfield Soccer Club Fundraiser was held at the Springfield Community Pool on June 18. The fundraiser has been held at different venues over the years, but they couldn't have picked a better location than the municipal pool this year for the record 1720 residents expected to turn out. "We were hoping for a warm spring evening and with the signup list growing, it was a no-brainer to combine a pinic and pool party," said Forys. Talk about a good call (and cooperation from the weatherman-in-the-sky), all in attendance were obviously having a great time. There was plenty of food and drink, a rocking DJ Dad, and of course a relaxing time in the pool on a hot spring evening. Sales of Springfield Soccer beach towels, t-shirts, …

Springfield, (6W 2L 1T) down 2 players of their "fearsome foursome" defense, held Clifton in check throughout the match allowing only six shots on goal. Due to injury of regular goalie, Ethan Siegel, Danny Micolta filled in admirably until a freak play caused him a sprained knee injury during the first half. Stepping in at that point was a third member of the Roadrunners defensive tandem, Arrington Joyner-Corniffe who manned the position with ease for the duration of the match. Springfield's scoring output was entirely credited to Asmar …
