Springfield Rotary Delivers Thanksgiving Baskets

Twenty Springfield families received packages of donated food and other goods.

On a rainy Tuesday afternoon, Springfield Rotarians made their annual food Thanksgiving basket delivery. This year was the largest one yet, with 20 families receiving full dinners donated by local businesses. The number of families receiving the donations swelled this year from 15 in 2010 with baskets going to a number of flood victims in addition to the families usually served in the  The recently opened supermarket Seabra’s and wine sellers Stew Leonard's provided the food and other items in the basket. Donated items ranged from cooking oil to toilet paper. One Rotarian described the goods in each basket as enough groceries for a week. Local charitable organization Springfield HOPE supported the delivery.
