Freeholder Candidate Receives NJ Meritorious Service Medal

Major (R) Marc A. Krauss was also nominated in March, by Governor Chris Christie, to serve on the NJ Veterans Service Council

Major (R) Marc A. Krauss, candidate for the Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders was presented the New Jersey Meritorious Service Medal (MSM) by Col. Mark Piterski, NJANG Commander, 50th Infantry Brigade Combat Team along with Raymond L. Zawacki, the NJ Deputy Commissioner for Veterans Affairs on Tuesday, October 29th, at the Bergen Town Center Mall in Paramus, NJ. Major (R) Krauss is Senior Program Analyst for Subsystem Technologies, Inc.,supporting the Marine Corps Liaison Office at Picatinny Arsenal, NJ,

The NJ MSM is awarded to those combat veterans who were not residents of New Jersey when they entered the military service, but who are current residents of New Jersey and have resided in the state for the previous five years.

“It was an honor to stand alongside my fellow veterans from WWII, Korea, Vietnam, OIF and OEF and receive this recognition,” Krauss said.

Major (R) Krauss was also nominated in March, by Governor Chris Christie to serve on the NJ Veterans Service Council (VSC).  The primary purpose of the Council is to formulate comprehensive policies for the coordination of all services benefiting war veterans and their dependents. It also functions in advisory capacity to the Major General of the Department Military and Veterans Affairs with respect to the Division of Veterans Services. Finally, the Council is required to study the activities of the Division and report annually to the Governor and the Legislature on its findings and conclusions.

“Helping my fellow veterans at this level is just one way of giving back to them,” Krauss said. 

Major (R) Krauss is a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Jewish War Veterans and the American Legion.
