CVS Shoplifter's Loaded Pockets Hamper Escape, Police Say

Pennsylvania man accused of stealing toiletries from Springfield pharmacy.

A CVS shoplifter was located Friday night in an adjacent parking lot nearly with his pants down as he attempted to transfer stolen shampoos, conditioners and soap from his pockets to a parked car, police said.

Alfie Sykes, 43, of Easton, Pa., was charged with shoplifting, receiving stolen property and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Sykes was observed running from the Morris Avenue pharmacy with his pants noticeably bulging with concealed merchandise, police said.

Officers arrested Sykes and recovered the stolen toiletries that were valued at more than $150, police said.

According to detectives, Sykes exited Route 78 East in Springfield while en route from Easton to Newark in order to steal items that he could sell "on the street" in the city. Sykes has an initial court appearance Monday in the Springfield Municipal Court.
