Basketball Court Coming to Meisel Avenue Park

The court at Washington Avenue Park will be refurbished.

Basketball players will soon have new and improved courts to enjoy, according to Union County officials.

In response to inquiries from Springfield Township, County Freeholder Bruce Bergen has instructed work to begin on the creation and/or refurbishment of basketball courts at County Parks within the Township.

"We are pleased to announce that work will commence on the refurbishment of the Washington Avenue Park basketball court during the second week of September," Union County spokesperson Sebastian Delia said. "That court will measure 60x90, and construction should take no longer than 30 days."

Construction is also expected to begin on a court within Meisel Park. Approval was given for an engineering design for a court measuring 40x60. The design is expected to be completed by Sept. 6 and a construction timetable will determined shortly thereafter.
