Dayton Basketball Stars Hold Clinic to Fight Breast Cancer
February hoops event features former Bulldogs and Moravian College coaches.
Next month, elementary school children can step up their basketball game and help fight breast cancer.
Former Dayton girls basketball stars are teaming with Moravian College Head Women's Basketball Coach Mary Beth Spirk in a b-ball youth clinic with all proceeds benefiting the Kay Yow WBCA Cancer Fund.
Former lady Bulldogs Sara Steinman, Cristin Zavocki and Emily MacDonnell will join coach Spirk in the clinic which will focus on fundamentals including dribbling, shooting and gameplaying skills. Former Dayton boys basketball team star and current Dayton assistant basketball team coach David Steinman will also be on hand for advice and instruction.
In her 26 years helming the Moravian College girls squad, Coach Spirk has led teams to the National Championship as well as nine NCAA tournament appearances. Steinman, a 2004 Dayton grad, is the assistant coach for the Moravian team as well as a former player.
The clinic will be held from noon to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 3 at Florence Gaudineer Middle School. The entry fee is $20. See the attached flyer for more information.

We hope everyone will join us! Last year we raised $1,500 through this one event, and are hoping to raise even more this time around!
