A Top-40 Retrospective...

Gary Lewis & The Playboys, a member of 1960's Top-40 royalty, performed a free concert at Jonathan Dayton High School this week. This was the fourth consecutive year that Springfield has hosted a free oldies concert there.

A splendid time was had by all as they barreled through (7) of their top 10 hits including the #1 This Diamond Ring," "Count Me In" and "She's Just My Style." Part of their repertoire was "Everybody Loves A Clown," which he wrote as a birthday present for his father, but released it a single and gave him a bowling ball.

Lewis also performed hits by other artists from that era, including "Palisades Park," the '60s pop hit written by Gong Show host Chuck Barris.
