First Snow of the Season

Mix of rain and snow a reminder that winter is just around the corner

Wet weather and, yes, some snowflakes, greeted residents as they awoke Saturday morning and continued throughout the better part of the afternoon.  This marks the first snowfall, albeit a light one, of the 2009-2010 season.

The National Weather Service's forecast for this afternoon calls for rain and snow, with a high near 44 degrees.  But those wishing to see snow on the ground may be disappointed, as it concludes with "little or no snow accumulation expected."

They'll have to wait until tonight, when the temperature drops, and the National Weather Service says "new snow accumulation of around an inch" is possible, with a low temperature around 29 degrees.
