Free Rabies Clinic Planned For Saturday

Free rabies immunizations for cats and dogs will be offered by the Springfield Board of Health and the Madison Health Department on Feb. 16 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The clinic will be held at the Sarah Bailey Civic Center, 30 Church Mall, Springfield, just off Morris Avenue.

The vaccine is good for one year for previously un-immunized cats and dogs and three years for immunized pets. Springfield Township ordinances require that both dogs and cats must be licensed annually. This licensing requirement includes animals that do not go outside. License renewals are due from now through Feb. 1, 2013. Proof of current rabies immunity, good through at least October 31, 2013, must be presented to obtain a license. Licenses will be available without the usual late fee at the February 16 clinic for residents who have their pets immunized then.
