NJ Transit Rail Service Between Newark And New York Restored

Midtown Direct train, others, fixed.

 NJ TRANSIT rail service in and out of New York Penn Station is being restored as of 12:07 p.m., following an earlier Amtrak power problem near New York. Northeast Corridor, North Jersey Coast Line and Midtown Direct service is resuming a regular weekday schedule subject to residual delays.  

In addition, Midtown Direct trains have resumed operation into and out of New York. Main/Bergen/Port Jervis/Pascack Valley customers may transfer at Secaucus for service to New York.   NJ TRANSIT is monitoring the situation and will keep customer informed of any potential impact to the afternoon peak period. Customers are encouraged to listen to news broadcasts or go to www.njtransit.com for the latest service information. Service information is also available by calling 973-275-5555.

Due to an Amtrak power problem near New York Penn Station, NJ TRANSIT rail service is temporarily suspended between Newark and New York on the Northeast Corridor, North Jersey Coast and Midtown Direct lines.Customers are advised of the following:

  • Midtown Direct trains are being diverted to Hoboken.
  • Main/Bergen/Port Jervis/Pascack Valley customers who normally transfer to New York-bound trains at Secaucus should remain on the train to Hoboken and connect to PATH.
  • Westbound (outbound) Northeast Corridor, North Jersey Coast Line and Midtown Direct service from Newark is subject to significant delay.

To provide customers with alternate travel options, PATH is cross-honoring NJ TRANSIT rail tickets and passes at Newark Penn, Hoboken and 33rd Street.  In addition, NJ TRANST buses are cross-honoring in and out of the Port Authority Bus Terminal.NJ TRANSIT customers are encouraged to listen to news broadcasts or go to www.njtransit.com for the latest service information.  Service information is also available by calling 973-275-5555.
