Photos: After The Storm

Scenes from a wet day.

The day after a weekend-long wind and rainstorm, Springfield showed suprisingly few signs of carnage. Aside from some scattered downed trees and some waterlogged former basement furniture set out for the trash, the township showed few signs of storm damage.

We're not sure if the lack of carnage is due to the storm missing Springfield or if the Department of Public Works had performed heroic cleanup duty; when we contacted the department, we were told that everyone was out. Union County public works employees were working to clear out the Rahway River in Meisel Ave. Park, which was clogged with debris ranging from downed tree branches to toys to a large plastic pipe.

If you have pictures, please add them here. Hope you were able to stay dry and that the emergency generators and pumps didn't have to be deployed.
