Sledders Packed Echo Lake Park on Sunday

Union County resident take advantage of the snowfall.

The snow storm that pummeled Springfield and the rest of the Mid-Atlantic region on Saturday, brought out the fun side of area residents on Sunday with sledders enjoying the main hill at Echo Lake Park.

The park, on the Westfield/Mountainside border, was crammed with hundreds of children and adults, enjoying afternoon sledding on the main hill just inside the main entrance to the park. Several area teens were snowboarding down the hill, including jumping a pile of hay bales and one of their friends.

While most of the sledders enjoyed the park's main hill, several dozen intrepid residents went to the high hill to the side of the park to enjoy a longer ride on the fresh powder. On the main hill, many sledders playfully collided with each other as they competed for hill space.
