Springfield Week in Review

A look back at the notable goings on in the township in recent days.

Springfield celebrated Memorial Day with a parade and ceremony. Local officials, community groups, emergency response professionals and volunteers marched outside of Town Hall. Patch editor and were on hand to capture the day in pictures.

To coincide with the day of remembrance for fallen soldiers,  we featured the efforts of local veteran Art Weintraub to . 

Springfield residents and shared powerful personal stories with Patch readers this week. Bonacorda, a Marion Ave. resident whose home suffered extensive damage from tropical storm Irene, helped reinvigorate the membership of Springfield’s Community Emergency Response Team by getting her neighbors to join. Powell related how taking part in the recent Special Olympics basketball tournament was a boon to her autistic son Joshua.

Harvard announced that . Biebelberg is one of two Dayton seniors to attend Harvard next year; his classmate and fellow 2012  will be joining at the illustrious academic institution.

But the future Cambridge residents weren’t the only Dayton students in the spotlight this week. Dayton Senior , a veteran of Dayton theatrical productions, also crowded his way onto center stage. In addition to his substantial academic record, the Springfield Senior has been featured eight Dayton theater productions as an actor and performer.
